Susan Mackasey

Founder & Managing Principal

Susan Mackasey is the founder and Managing Principal of Mackasey. She leads client strategy, media relations, reputation work and business development.

Her strength is finding the story others overlook—the angle that makes complex work relevant, the opportunity that fits the larger objective and the connection between what a client knows and what an audience needs to hear.

Susan has placed clients across national, trade, broadcast and podcast media in Canada, the United States and international markets. Her work spans technology, healthcare, sustainability, education, agriculture, professional services and other specialized sectors.

She remains closely involved in every engagement, from the initial positioning and strategy through outreach, opportunity development and results. Her approach is personal and persistent, built on relevance and relationships rather than mass pitching. Susan works alongside Jack Williams and Mackasey’s wider specialist team.

Jack Williams

Principal Strategist, Editorial & Thought Leadership

Jack Williams works alongside Susan on client strategy from the earliest stages of an engagement. He helps define the positioning, clarify the message and determine how media relations, thought leadership, podcasts and owned content should work together.

He leads Mackasey’s editorial strategy and thought-leadership development, turning complex expertise into clear, credible ideas. Jack writes extensively himself and oversees the writers supporting client campaigns, helping ensure that every piece meets a consistent editorial standard.

He is also closely involved in identifying the publications, podcasts, newsletters and platforms where a client’s ideas are most likely to be relevant and well received.

Behind Every Engagement

The Team Supporting the Work.

Susan and Jack are supported by writers, researchers, media relations specialists, content strategists and campaign professionals.

The team is structured around the needs of each engagement. That gives clients direct access to the people leading the work, along with the specialist knowledge and capacity required to carry it out properly.

Media Relations

Journalist research, targeted outreach, follow-up and opportunity management.

Writing & Editorial

Thought leadership, articles, commentary, pitches and media materials.

Research & Intelligence

Industry research, fact-checking, media intelligence and opportunity identification.

Campaign Management

Planning, reporting, coordination and the details that keep the work moving.

How We Work

The Strategy Stays Connected.

Good communications work builds on what has already been learned. The positioning should inform the media outreach. The media response should sharpen the message. An article, podcast or journalist relationship may lead to the next opportunity.

We keep that context connected throughout the engagement rather than treating every pitch or piece of content as a separate task.

Mackasey Intelligence™ helps us maintain a broader view of the client’s strategy, media landscape, relationships and results. Our team uses that perspective to decide what matters and what should happen next.

One Continuous Strategy

Positioning, messaging, outreach and results remain connected as the work develops.

Informed Decisions

Research, client knowledge and campaign history guide the next recommendation.
